Getting the hang of studio strings. Very versatile library; took way too long to figure out how I should set up a template with all of the essentials due to not knowing what the essentials even were. I'll be finding it today and then, it should be smooth composing from there on out.
I also need to upgrade a lot of hardware and fill in missing pieces into my work flow. I'll lay out specifics soon, but a wireless keyboard, new mouse, and better display monitor are in order.0June 1

I pulled the trigger and bought Spitfire Studio Strings Pro last night. I had the money for it, and I was like fu*k it. I tried it out, and I have to say I was underwhelmed. It is an awesome library, and the control of the sound is CRAZY detailed (moreso than I am used to/capable of utilizing properly). So, I have a huge learning curve ahead of me for mic positions and mixing and just getting that crazy detail to work for me.
Had to reinstall the library since the portamento isn't working properly. Also, I feel like there's 5 dynamic layers; much smoother transitions than BBCSO. The round robins... eh... not so sure. I think I like the feel of BBCSO's shorts a bit more. The longs are beautiful imo. No idea if I'm missing anything from chamber strings, but I'm obsessed. It's like Aperture Orchestra pp longs, but for the entire string ensemble.0May 30

I finally got a tablet. It's pretty big and lovely; great for drawing on and visiting the forums. I've also tried reading sheet music with it, and it was such a lovely experience! I was able to take notes and everything. Galaxy S7+ for anyone wondering. 512GB of Storage and for the low, low price of $700... Yeah, it was expensive, but my Macbook died so it's replacing my laptop. I had to come to terms with purchasing a tablet for that price over the course of a week, but I really do enjoy it.
Spring sale is OH so tempting. Studio Strings Professional for $300? Albion One for $250???? URGH. I'm so FRUSTRATED I JUST GOT A TABLET AND NOW I CAN'T AFFORD LIBRARIES, BUT I NEEDED A LAPTOP REPLACEMENT, AND IT WASN'T GONNA BE CHEAPER IF I GOT AN ACTUAL LAPTOP???
Needless to say, I will be waiting till Black Friday for my next purchase. Definitely getting Studio Strings Professional and then Albion One. Divisi, Chamber, and Intimate sound for my strings (my favorite section to write for) and then getting a fine broad stroke library for expanding the size and grandeur of my virtual orchestra.0May 26

Good news! They updated my username to something less revealing :D I'll see if I can change it after I type this out. More good news! I will be purchasing the iPad Air w/256GB of storage. It seems the iPad pro is legitimately a secondary laptop (also the new lightly generic Apple announcement makes this even more true), which means I really don't need an iPad pro. I think the Air will be a great investment; I'm mostly looking forward to getting Cubase Lite installed on it to see how it runs and what libraries/sound I can use on there.
RAM prices have been all over the place lately. I will be upgrading to 64GB which will be enough for now and enough for a little bit later. Also checking out more demos on the Spitfire Studio Professional Strings before I purchase it.0April 22
