    About Bridgerton Scoring Competition

    This is the most ridiculous way to ask a film composer to write a music based on a few video shots of a TV show!

    It is not even a complete sequence of the film! What is the story? genre? characters? theme? rhythm? director`s idea??? 

    Are you kidding the composers?

    I know that the participants of this competition are not professional composers, but they are not supposed to get lead a wrong way.

    I think Spitfire Audio must choose an academic way of competition, to advert its own products.

  • I wanted to add a happy ending to this thread:

    Firstly - any fule, who wanted to know the emotional context, without wanting to be influenced by the lovely original score, could simply have read the wikipedia page on Bridgerton Series 1. It's what I did - the wife and I have since my entry watched from the start up to ep 6 and, having watched it, I don't think I was that far off the mark. Also, the "in media res" start added so much opportunity to imprint one's voice on the challenge in the simple placing of the first note alone.

    Secondly - the lack of a detailed brief is great - it lets people explore their own musical visions at will, and I have particularly loved all the funky, synthy and drum and bass type entries. But well done everyone, whatever you did!

    And so, lastly, thank you so much to Spitfire for the opportunity to score such top end footage - I can only imagine the practical, let alone the legal, hurdles that must have been involved in getting this clip under our noses (not to mention the job ahead in judging the nearly 4k entries for this thing!)- it has been a true privilege to be a part of this (indirect) collaboration with so many great composers and I for one am very grateful!
