So recently I got the DT 990 pro 250 ohms...
My dad recently gifted me these amazing headphones, apart from their amazing quality the audio level feels really low.
Does anyone know if that's just how they are or if it can be changed ?
cheers.

Not sure if you got this sorted but I run my own DT-100's (400 OHM) through my Digidesign 003 Rack and no problems, maybe look at an Audio Interface to connect to the Macbook?

The higher the impedance of the headphones, the greater the current required to drive them. 250 ohms is perhaps a higher impedance than your previous headphones, so the volume may seem quieter, depending on what you are plugging them into.
I think my AKG open monitoring headphones are rated at 62 ohms, and I feel like I have to turn my amp up quite a bit louder than if using a pair of standard consumer headphones, which are typically around 32 ohms.
I don't think you can change the impedance of your headphones. Additional amplification might be the way to go if you can't turn the volume up any further on your existing device.

thank you so much for this answer, this is my first step into higher impedance headphones so I was a bit scared when I almost didn't hear anything.
Which amp do you perhaps recommend? @Rabbit

What do you plug your headphones into at the moment?

My PC/headphones/speakers run through my big home amp at the moment which isn't what you'd be after, so hopefully someone will be able to jump on who uses a similar macbook/headphones setup to advise on that!
