NEW Originals Mrs Mills Piano! The Distinctive Sound of Abbey Road Pop History

This Steinway Vertegrand, named after beloved British pianist Mrs Mills, is expertly recorded at its legendary home: Abbey Road Studios, Studio Two. Full of character and nostalgic charm, with a bright, metallic tone owing to its lacquered hammers, this piano is famous for its use on countless ’60s pop era records by artists including The Zombies, Russ Conway and The Beatles, featuring prominently on Penny Lane and With A Little Help From My Friends. Available now for just £29 / 29€ / $29.

Fabulous! Next up, Spitfire: the Billy Cotton Band Show library, featuring Russ Conway :)

Spitfire... you did it again! I love the sound of this historic piano.

Bought it, downloaded it, played it and it's basically replacing every piano I've ever owned. Beautiful stuff

So the first thing that flew out was Lady Madonna and that segued into I Want to Tell You. Thank you guys for this!!

Ok I will definitely buy this it looks awesome (grateful that it’s in the affordable range). But I’m holding out for the Hans Zimmer piano - any chance of a half price sale over Easter? ✌️😉

Every key is individually sampled, right?

I have absolutely no insider information but perhaps a piano could go on sale in March 29 and perhaps that piano could be hzp. If not then, the spring sale should be right around the corner.

Bought it before I heard it.
I looked at previous attempts to capture this brilliant keyboard, and I'm glad I waited.
This is a gift of an instrument. It mixes so well with other tracks, as well as a perfect 'imperfect' solo piano.
I can't believe how quickly £30 left my bank account. It is an excellent addition to my VI collection.

I want to try layering it with the Cimbalom, think it will make an extraordinary sound.

I actually had this exact thought! They sound very similar in attack & shimmer in a way...

Is this M1 compatible?

Looking forward to having a proper listen to this later on.

doesn't work that should read

It sounds wonderful, but it is very consuming in cpu resources. Much more than your other strings libraries, even with several microphones. Why ? Can you optimise that ?

@Pascal as a starting point, I would suggest you increase the Buffer Rate in your DAW, if it is not 512 or 1024 Samples. You should also reduce the voice count if you find you are consuming a lot of CPU. Alternatively, if that does not help, please reach out to us at www.spitfireaudio.com/support and we can investigate this further.

Thanks Angus for your answer. Increase the buffer to 1024 samples makes a latency of 24ms. That's ok for the off-line rendering, but not really comfortable for live playing... :-/ Your suggestion of reducing the number of voices is better. At 48 voices max, I think it's cuts sometimes some layers but it's still fun to play. :-)
In fact I'm surprised by the comparison with Kontakt, when playing 80 or 100 voices of one of your libraries without cpu alert.

If I play acoustic piano it's for a rock song or old style boogie woogie/stride/ragtime type playing. The Spitfire Mrs Mills souds fantastic for that! This is one of those rare keyboard VST's that magically transmutes your keyboard into the actual piano.

This VI is amazing!! 2 weeks ago I spent 3 days recording in Abbey Road Studio Two and of course reserved the Mrs Mills piano. Unbelievable on everything we recorded. When I got back home to Massachusetts the second thing I did after kissing my wife was to run in to my studio to check out my Mrs Mills plugin. I was floored to say the least. I loved it when I first got it but after playing the real thing for 3 days the similarities were remarkable. So powerful, lively and expressive!! The only real difference besides being in the room with the piano was the real one tore my hands up!! Hah. Cheers Spitfire. I will be getting the Challen next which I also played at Abbey Road!
