BBC SO Core

I have Core which is really good. I am missing a bass clarinet and an English horn. I do not have the funds or disk space for Core professional. Where can I get these individual instruments that will play using Kontakt player please?

If you download a Pro template from our Template sub-category below, you will find a mode switched version of the Cor Anglais and Bass Clarinet. These are not the actual instruments if you own just BBC SO Core, and are instead pitched down versions of the Oboes and Clarinets respectively.

You can buy those instruments in Berlin Woodwinds Soloist 1 & 2. But you don't need to purchase their entire product, as the plugin of Orchestral Tools allows to purchase individual instruments.

Thank Angus. I use Reaper, therefore, I use the template from Hew Wagner for BBC Pro not Core? How will I get to use the instruments if I do not have then installed. Sorry to sound naive Angus.

@Glynn we don't currently have a Pro Reaper template. I'll look into upgrading Huw's template to Pro.

I have downloaded the Pro template Angus. Will the Bass Clarinet and English Horn be useable even though I do not have the instruments?

@Glynn if you have a look at the video linked above, this shows how the Oboe instruments in Core are translated into Cor Anglais samples. Same goes for Bass Clarinet.

I have BBCSO Core. I opened an older BBCSO Pro template* for Cakewalk by Bandlab, but when I try to switch from Pro to Core the interface always loads Violins1 regardless of the instrument which is supposed to be loaded. Is the template too old? Is there a newer template for Cakewalk? Or is the problem in Cakewalk? Thanks!

*The BBCSO Pro template for Cakewalk was created by Matthew Sorrels in late 2019.

When I load the pro template it is so large in terms of RAM it is difficult to use on my laptop. Could I use a stripped down version of a/the pro template showing just the instruments I need? Thanks

Hi @Glynn

I would recommend stripping out instruments you do not need whilst the plugins are disabled. Alternatively, you can also purge the plugin of any techniques you are not using.

Just to clarify, I should load the pro template and then delete those instruments and articulations I do not require. Then the bass clarinet, english horn would work as you have said above? By taking a lot of template out would not stop the horn and bass clarinet working? Thanks for helping me Angus.

That's right, and removing other instrument will not affect the other instruments loaded into the template already.
