I have the same issue with Ableton Live 11 and i also tried many things to fix this but i don't have any audio after importing the .mov file into the Ableton DAW. When i play the file in media player or vlc i can hear the dialogue and the sound efects.

Just out of curiosity, do we have permission to put the clip in our reel under the assumption that we expressly disclose that it was for a contest and not a commissioned project?

@Chroma make sure that you open the film in the Arrangement View. Opening in the Session View will not split the audio from the video file.
0 -
@Kent yes you are more than welcome to place the file as part of a showreel/ portfolio. As you say, you should make it clear that this is a competition entry and not a commissioned work affiliated with Warner Bros.

This the way i tried to import the video file. In Arrangement view. I've reach to the Ableton technical support. I am waiting for them to respond. I have seen 2 other post on the forum with similar issue concerning Ableton and the file.

Should we score the title card at the end of the clip?
It's not mentioned in the rules and I've noticed not everyone is doing it so far.
I was going to just talk at the end thanking people for watching the video in lieu of adding music to the title card, particularly because it doesn't actually feel like part of "the scene" and wasn't mentioned in Pinar's video about the competition.
But I don't wanna lose points or get disqualified for not doing it.
What do you guys think?

Having a problem with the clip. After importing it into Ableton I'm getting only the video without the audio. Don't know how to fix this. If you guys have a solution, please help me. Other clips I import are working perfectly. I'm having a problem only with this one. Really want to participate! Any solutions are welcome. This would be my first time participating in a competition like this and I'm really excited. So anyone here, please help me!
I'm using Ableton Live 11 Suite.

Hey @MallyWally, the choice is yours! We will be judging the scene itself, but if you feel compelled to score the end card you are welcome to!

Just figured it out. The original file is in 23.98 FPS. We can't adjust FPS in Ableton like its done in Logic. So I took the file and changed the framerate to 24FPS and bounced it out. The length of the audio is the same and there is no change to it whatsoever, following the rules and guidelines of this competition. If anyone needs this I can share a Gdrive link.
Please let me know if this is alright @Spitfire Audio

Hello, concerning your competition DC's Stargirl, I'm using reaper and I rendered and uploaded the video with my music in 30.00 frames instead 24, what should I do?

Hi. Would it be allowed to overlay written notation in the video? Or put the notation side by side next to the video? I'm asking because technically that would be a modification of the clip (namely scaling down the video to make things fit). I have a hunch that this should be OK, but wanted to check to be sure. Thanks!
@AnsI I think you should be able to edit your response in the google form, so you should be able to redo the video, upload the new file, and then update your link in the form. That's just what I gathered from the info on this forum though.

Hello, I just want to have some clarification on the editing my entry before the deadline. I have sent in the URL for my entry on youtube. But I wanted to go back and tweak a few things. I'm assuming I would need to upload a whole new video. If that is the case, would that count as editing? I know you will only take one entry per email. I'm looking to go back and adjust some volume issues I noticed on my entry.
Thanks,
Joseph

Thank you for this opportunity, it's been a very cool experience : D

Hi everyone. I have uploaded my own version on Youtube. Can I share it on my Facebook or is it not possible?
Thank you very much.

Hi @projectanvil - altering the video footage in this way would disqualify your entry, so please make sure the video you submit does not contain the written notation overlaid or alongside the clip.
1 -
Hi @Jabbott1 - Yes, you can certainly edit your submission and upload the new version to YouTube (be sure to take down the old video to avoid confusion) and then edit your previous submission form (via the confirmation email sent from your first submission) and update the video link with the newly edited video's link.

Although it may have been asked before - is it necessary to maintain a volume standard for #Stargirl Competition? Thank you for an authoritative information!

Are we able to lower the volume of the clip of does it have to stay the same?
1 -
Hi @tomschlueter & @Kevx23 - we ask that the clip and the clip's audio remain unaltered. Please remember we are judging based on composition, not on mixing capabilities!

Hi, I also can't find my video on the hashtag search, I've edited the video so there is only one hashtag and modify the entry form but still I can't find it

I have the same problem. I tried using the hashtag(#MyStargirlScore) in 3 places(title, description and in the hashtag box) but for some reason my video does not show up when I click on the hashtag(hundreds of videos show up, but not mine).
Here is my video:

I have the same problem. My video is not showing up when I click the hashtag... hundreds of other videos show up, but mine is not there(I've tried repeatedly, with different browsers, profiles, etc).
I did put the hashtag(#MyStargirlScore) in the title, the description and the hashtag box on youtube.

I understand in an composition sense, make room for the other audio components, but regarding audible balance for judging, should entries benefit from a few Db more to the music so you hear the intricacies, or leave it underneath the SFX and dialogue as you'd expect that on TV release?
I think this is why I've seen some also have a separate upload with isolated score.

I'm not sure why, but my video finally showed up under the hashtag, 3 days after I posted it. So problem solved here.

So I spent two weekends on my submission. The first one was mostly spent writing and orchestrating, and the second weekend I tidied stuff up and then mixed it and submitted.
I thought I was done… but I’ve been listening to it a lot since and there are tweaks I’d now like to make. I’d like to play the piano parts better, and accentuate the crash scene buildup a little more, and some other minor nitpicky things. But I’m also not sure because I imagine I could keep tweaking and polishing and playing and end up with something different, that two weeks down the line I’d still feel needed more work. And there’s perhaps a better sense of authenticity with what I did compared to what I might do now. I’ve already listened to a lot of other submissions now so that might influence my changes.
So what are the rest of you doing? Did you already nail it first time? Do you think you can do better/more but just accepting what you did? Or do you plan to revisit it before the 12th? Or does it not really matter cause the chances of being a real competitor are soooo slim! 😀

Hey everyone and Spitfire Team!
I know that edit the length of the clip is not allowed but I would like to ask about the possibility to add subtitles since I've worked on music with lyrics. Also, would be great if I could add an "old VHS" effect to the video.
Is any of these possible or not? Thank you so much for the answer!

Hi @Peter Satera - we recommend aiming to make it sound as you would for a real scoring gig - the music should enhance the scene, not overwhelm it. So use your best judgement when it comes to changing the level of your score in relation to the clip's audio.
2 -
Hi @Brucky - subtitles will not be necessary, and it will violate the terms to add effects to the video footage. Please leave the clip as-is as not to be disqualified.
