How To Use Modulation End Expression Without Midi Controller?
Hello everyone!
I am pretty new to using spitfire plugins, and I am currently using the BBC Symphony Orchestra plugin to write an orchestral piece. I was researching online and saw that there was a dynamics/modulation and expression controller built into the plugin, however I haven't been able to find a way to use this without a MIDI controller. I am working with cakewalk as a DAW, and don't have a MIDI controller because my budget is very tight. Cakewalk's built in velocity control doesn't do anything to affect the dynamics of the BBC Orchestra plugin. How can I affect the dynamics?

Hi @Chefev
Only short articulations dynamics are controlled by velocity. E.g. pizzicato, staccatissimo.
For long articulations e.g. long, con sordino, flautando, legato, the dynamics is controlled by CC1. This is the mod wheel on your keyboard. Expression is CC11.
If you don't have a keyboard or if it doesn't have a mod wheel you can draw in the modulation in the controller lane of Cakewalk. You can also draw in expression data too.
Have a look at this video to see how to do it. (From about 25 minutes into the video).
Hope that helps
Cheers
Steve
