Sacconi violin2 louder than violin1?

I've had Sacconi String Quartet for a while but just now using for a recording and am going for close mics - just close and close ribbon. I'm finding violin2 sounds 'closer', and noticeably louder - by about 10db (in cubase). Is this just me?

I had assumed that when choosing close mics there wouldn't be such a noticeable difference. Writing in case I'm doing something wrong.
