Problems loading BBCSO in Cubase!

Hi, When I start up Cubase, when it's going through its initialising phase it looks for BBCSO Core as a VST2 plugin, and because I only set it up as VST3 it doesn't find it and eventually stops loading. If I disable all 3rd party plug-ins and restart and then scan for plug-ins in Plug-in Manager it finds BBCSO and works fine, but when I start up again I have the same problem. I've checked the paths for VST2s in Plug-in Manager and none is set up, so I can't see why Cubase should expect to find one. Has anyone come across this and have a quick fix before I reinstall BBCSO? Thanks, andy

I'm sorry you are having issues launching Cubase. I am not sure you can stop the scanning of particular plugin types in Cubase, if you have no custom folders set up I believe this will just scan the usual defaults (as below):

    In Windows:

    64-bit VST2: C:\Program Files\VstPlugins

    64-bit VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

    On Mac:

    AU: MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components

    VST: MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/VST

    VST3: MacHD/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/VST3

If you can locate the VST2 folder on your Mac and remove the VST2 from within (particularly the BBC SO plugin), then see how Cubase responds on the next start up, you can start moving these back in - if you do not use the VST2 version of BBC SO, you can also simply delete this if no other plugins are causing issues.

Alternatively you could look into clearing the Cubase plugins caches to remove any possible cached blacklisting causing these issues:

  • Well, I guess I can no long use any Spitfire stuff with the new version of Cubase Elements (12.0.30 & 12.0.40)

After a few hours of install, un-install, repair, install....

NONE of these captures are duplicates....Spitfire REFUSES to stay INSTALLED/WORKING. These are in chronological order. After all of this...I might have 50% but I can't use it.
