The Magical Score of ENCANTO with composer Germaine Franco and orchestrator David Giuli

Composer Germaine Franco is joined by orchestrator David Giuli, as she shares her year-long process of creating the magical score to Walt Disney Animation's Encanto. Franco will discuss her creative process of experimentation with new textures and sonorities to create the world of magical realism through music. She will speak about combining traditional Colombian instruments such as tiples, bandolas, cuatros, guitars, cununos, guasá, maracones, guacharacas, the marimba de chonta, the arpa llanera, and multiple flutes from Latin America, with orchestra. She will describe how she worked with musicians from many different cultures to create a cohesive score. Franco and Giuli will discuss their collaborative work on specific cues with both notation and audio examples.
