About size and installation, upgrading from Studio Brass, WW, and Strings to Pro versions

Hello. I already had Spitfire Studio Brass, Woodwinds and Strings, and they are installed.

I have just upgraded to the pro versions of each. I have the three downloads. I now have these six folders:

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Brass

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Brass Professional

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Woodwinds

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Woodwinds Professional

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Strings

Spitfire Audio - Spitfire Studio Strings Professional

Before I install the new Pro upgrades, I wonder if the pro versions contain all the content of the not-pro version? If so, should I first uninstall the not-pro versions? And if I do not uninstall, will I be creating duplicate instruments taking up more space?

Thank you for any advice.

  • Hi @Finley

Yes, the Pro versions contain everything in the "Core" versions so you can safely remove them from your working drive to save space (approx 32GB).

    Cheers

  • Thank you very much!

  • A corollary, if I may. No answer needed if I am correct.

I now have the 'regular' non-pro versions on one computer, and the pro versions on another.

If I write a score on the computer with the non-pro versions, and take that file to the other computer with the pro versions, I assume it will play correctly, as you have said the pro version has all the sounds plus more.

  • Hi @Finley

Unfortunately not, the Core and Pro libraries should be treated as different Kontakt libraries. They will not automatically cross over like BBCSO.
